Description

First Edition of Robert Penn Warren's
    Pulitzer Prize Winning Novel

Robert Penn Warren. All the King's Men. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, [1946]. First edition stated on copyright page; with first state dust jacket that presents Sinclair Lewis blurb on the rear panel (later states would shift this to the rear flap). Octavo. 464 pages. Publisher's maroon cloth lettered in gilt on the spine. Modest shelf wear to the corners and spine ends; former owner's bookplate on the front pastedown; jacket bright, chipped at the extremities with a .5 inch chip at the bottom of the spine. Contents trivially age-toned but overall a tight, clean copy in very good condition.
Awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1947, the 1949 film version won the Academy Award for Best Picture, rated the 36th greatest novel of the 20th Century by Modern Library, and chosen as one of Time Magazine's 100 best novels since 1923.
