Pablo Neruda. [Typed Responses to a Questionnaire on the Creative Process]. Santiago and Isla Negra: 1963. Original unpublished correspondence, signed.

More Information: Pablo Neruda. [Typed Responses to a Questionnaire on the Creative Process]. Santiago and Isla Negra: 18 and 26 October, 1963. Original unpublished correspondence. Signed. Letter, one typed leaf, requesting Neruda's participation in a questionnaire entitled "El Proceso de la Creación Artística." Accompanied by Neruda's response to the twenty questions, five typed leaves. Six unnumbered, letter-sized leaves (10.1875 x 8.5 inches; 260 x 215 mm.). Text on rectos only. Stapled packet, with cover sheet consisting of typewritten, signed letter with pencil annotation at bottom margin; remaining leaves typed with fourteen carbon typescript slips pasted on, margins ruled in black felt-tip pen with shorter rules drawn in to separate each response from the following question, final leaf signed in red ink. Housed in a folded tissue sleeve inside mylar trifold. Regular age toning of sheets. Cover leaf edgeworn; rumpling around staple; horizontal and vertical creases bisecting leaf; mended tear running width of page. Spot of correction fluid applied to beginning of first question. Evidence of damp (possible glue-stain) at bottom rule of final leaf, causing slight bleeding; small area with layer of paper pulled up at bottom end of left marginal rule. Some bleed-through of pen ink visible at rectos. Very good, given the fragile nature of this object. Neruda's responses are brief but impactful. To the request: "Give your thoughts on the meaning of 'creation.'" Neruda writes: "Literary or visual art is the construction of a reality that did not exist before, or the materialization in words, colors or sounds, of previously unknown relationships between consciousness and the exterior or interior world." Text in Spanish.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
