    Description

Margaret Mitchell. Gone with the Wind. New York: Macmillan and Co., 1936. First edition. According to Mr. Kaufmann, this was one of the fabled Norman Unger copies, well known and highly desirable for their remarkable condition. Octavo. [vi], 1037, [5, blank] pages. Publisher's medium gray cloth, spine and front board lettered and decoratively stamped in dark blue, light orange top stain, in original first-issue dust jacket with this title listed second in the second column. Extremities just a touch rubbed. Dust jacket edges very lightly worn with a small closed tear to upper edge of front panel. A superior, near fine copy, housed in a custom clamshell case. Gone with the Wind won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction before becoming a hugely successful film adaptation by Selznick International Pictures in 1939. From the collection of Donald Kaufmann.
