Louis-Ferdinand Céline. Bagatelles pour un massacre. Paris: 1937. Original edition, later printing, inscribed.

More Information: Louis-Ferdinand Céline. Bagatelles pour un massacre. Paris: Les Éditions Denoël, [1937]. Original edition, later printing with 72e édition on the front wrapper; inscribed by the author on the preliminary blank: "A / Madame [---] / bien amicalement / LF Celine / [---];" with a black and white printed plate (possibly a frontispiece for another volume) featuring a drawing of author by Gen Paul, inscribed by Céline on the verso. Octavo (8.875 x 5.5 inches; 225 x 140 mm.). 739, [5] pages (note: pages 1 and 2 are blank); text partially unopened. Publisher's perfect binding in original wrappers, printed in red and black; with original wrap-around band laid in. Wrappers tanned and soiled; backstrip darkened with a few minor creases; small dampstain to the fore edge of the front wrapper; edges lightly worn. Front hinge nearly broken; text block browned and brittle; fore-edges worn with marginal closed tears to the last gathering. Good. One of Céline's notorious fascist publications, which went through several printings before being withdrawn; republished under the Vichy government but out of print today. From the Marilyn R. Duff Collection.
