Second edition, printed the same years as the first, potentially mixed with two parts (four and six) not identified as second edition on the title-pages. Six parts in three volumes; octavo (9.125 x 6.25 inches; 232 x 156 mm.). [iv], 148 (though mis-paginated), [iv], 191, [1, blank]; [iv], 286, [iv], 338, [2, blank]; [iv], 323, [1, blank], [iv], 290, [2, blank] pages; abundant pagination errors in the first part. Publisher's blue cloth, respined and recornered in blue cloth, original spines laid down on second and third volumes; boards ruled in blind, front board lettered in gilt with gilt rule and decorative stamping to the corners, spines lettered in gilt with elaborate stamping in gilt and blind; marbled edges; plain endpapers. Original backstrips faintly dulled with some wear; boards lightly soiled with an occasional small splash or blemish; edges faintly darkened. Hinges strengthened during recasing; text faintly tanned (varies between parts, some still quite bright) and lightly foxed; third volume with a hint of must. Very good. From the Marilyn R.
