Joseph Heller. Catch-22. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1961. First edition, signed by the author on the title-page. Octavo (8.25 x 5.5 inches; 206 x 140 mm.). [2, blank], 443, [3, blank] pages. Publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered in white. Top edge stained red. Original dust jacket. Cloth spine very lightly sunned; spine and board-edges sunned and with some occasional bumping; minor occasional soiling to boards; front hinge repaired, a 3" tear to the front free endpaper starting at the front hinge; text very slightly toned. Dust jacket spine somewhat sunned (a bit less than usually seen); spine chipped at edges; tape residue at edges of spine on the recto; jacket panels toned; some edgewear, and a few tears to edges of jacket; some scuffing and thumbsoiling to jacket panels. Very good. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.

More Information: "[Heller's] approach is satirical, but it is also surrealistic, absurd, even lunatic. But the aim is serious enough - to show the mess of war." (Anthony Burgess, 99 Novels, 79).

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
