    Description

John Updike. The Lovelorn Astronomer. G. K. Hall, [1978]. Two copies. One inscribed by Updike, along with a TLS. From the collection of Alexander J. Jemal, Jr.

    More Information:

One card signed by Updike on inside left cover: "for Keith Baker-/Best wishes/John Updike". At the bottom of the facing inside cover Updike has written "c. 1953". With a typed letter signed, dated January 13, '79. Approximately 8 x 8.5 inches (evidently this sheet was originally 11.5 x 8.5 inches, but the lower blank portion was neatly torn off). In this letter to Keith Baker, Updike describes how one of his sons is having difficulty at his school, and wishes Baker well. It is signed in blue ballpoint "John". Very good. Cards generally near fine. From the collection of Alexander J. Jemal, Jr.
