Maybe that's why - JS." Additionally signed by Steinbeck on the leaf preceding half-title page. Large octavo. [2, blank], 131, [1] pages. Publisher's coarse beige cloth, colored illustration on a blue background pasted off-center on front cover, enclosed within a wide blue border, spine stamped in gilt on a blue background vertically from top to bottom. All edges stained blue and trimmed. Illustrated endpapers. In a slipcase, worn and split at edges, toned. Housed in a custom green cloth clamshell case. A bit of rubbing on covers. Bookplate of Joyce and Jules Buck on front free endpaper. A near fine copy.
