Inscribed by Steinbeck on the front free endpaper: "For Harriet Green/John Steinbeck". Octavo. 186, [6, blank] pages. Publisher's full light brown cloth, front board and spine stamped in black and orange; fourth printing dust jacket. Cloth spine sunned; boards rubbed and somewhat soiled; upper front corner bumped; endleaves a bit toned. Binding skewed. Dust jacket spine toned; edges of jacket worn, with some chipping and tears; jacket panels toned and soiled. Overall, a very good copy. Goldstone and Payne A7b (about the second printing).
