    John Steinbeck. East of Eden. New York: Viking Press, 1952. First edition, one of 1,500 copies signed. This copy unnumbered. Octavo. [vi], 602 pages. With signed limitation leaf inserted. Publisher's full green cloth, front board lettered in gilt, spine stamped in brown and gilt. All edges stained red. Cloth spine toned, some rubbing to edges of spine and stamping; light rubbing to edges of binding; mild bumping to lower edge of rear board; front free endpaper and two following leaves have stain at upper corner (probably from stain on edges); stain on text edges a bit faded, some soiling to edges of text. Still, a near fine copy, lacking the publisher's slipcase. Goldstone and Payne A32.
