    More Information: Jean Cocteau. Le Prince frivole. [The Frivolous Prince]. Paris: Mercure de France, 1910. First edition, ordinary paper issue, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on a preliminary blank: "Cher monsieur / Coolus, voici / mon petit volume / à vous l'envoie avec / tout mon affectueux / respect / Jean Cocteau." Likely inscribed to the prolific dramatist and critic Romain Coolus. Octavo (7.25 x 4.75 inches; 185 x 120 mm.). 164, [165]-170 (contents), [1, printer's note], [1, blank] pages (note: pages 1-2 pages are blank). Publisher's perfect binding in original yellow wrappers printed in black with publisher's caduceus device in dark yellow on the front wrapper; page edges rough-trimmed; flyleaves. Publisher's perforated stamp ("M. F.") on the front wrapper and flyleaf. Backstrip very lightly dulled with some minor vertical creasing; wrappers very lightly rubbed with a just a hint of soiling and some very faint discoloration to the upper margins. Flyleaves browned; sporadic light wear to page edges. Near fine. Cocteau's second book, a collection of poems, published a decade before Cocteau would establish himself as one of the preeminent creative personalities in France.
