Description

"If a Body Catch a Body
    Coming Through the Rye..."

J.D. Salinger. The Catcher in the Rye. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1951. First edition. Octavo. 277 pages. Publisher's black cloth binding with gilt titles in original, first issue dust jacket. Housed in an elaborately-decorated quarter-red morocco clamshell from the Dragonfly Bindery. Ex-Donald G. Drapkin with his bookplate. Boards very slightly splayed with faint dampstaining along bottom edge and traces of light rubbing. Small bookseller's pencil notes on front free endpaper and rear pastedown, small, unobtrusive paper lifts at edges of endpapers. Dust jacket spine panel only lightly faded, with minimal wear at edges and folds, small bruise to bottom edge of rear panel. Overall, a near fine copy of Salinger's classic. From the collection of Donald Carter.

Today I received the catalog which is a work of art unto itself. When I found my lot I was literally blown away by what Craig had done with the presentation....... quite amazing to say the least!
