James Joyce. "Ulysses" [serialized in Two Worlds Monthly]. New York: 1926-1927. First U. S. serialized pirate edition.

    More Information:

James Joyce. "Ulysses" [serialized in Two Worlds Monthly]. Edited by Samuel Roth. New York: Two Worlds Monthly, 1926-1927. First U. S. serialized pirate edition. Eleven of an eventual twelve issues (the twelfth issue, Volume III, no. 4, October 1927, was not issued in magazine form; it only appeared in a later two-volume edition issued by Roth). Eleven quarto volumes (9.625 x 6.625 inches; 243 x 168 mm.). Original publisher's printed wrappers. Some toning and wear to wrappers; some light tears or chips to the spines. Still, a near fine collection, complete in this issue.

Two Worlds Monthly reprinted fourteen episodes of Ulysses in twelve serialized parts, entirely unauthorized by Joyce. This publication created a firestorm of criticism of Two Worlds Monthly, eventually leading to an indignant open letter signed by 167 artists and writers (which appeared in the April 1927 issue of Transition Magazine). Joyce eventually obtained an injunction against Samuel Roth nearly a year after Two Worlds Monthly ceased publication. Slocum and Cahoon C68.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
