    The First British Edition of Ulysses

    James Joyce. Ulysses. Paris: Published for the Egoist Press, London, by John Rodker, 1922. First British edition (published in France). One of 2,000 copies printed (this being copy number 1,108). Quarto. [10], 732, [1, colophon], [1, blank] pages. With the eight-page errata bound-in. Bound in contemporary half brown morocco over green cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, top edge gilt. Original wrappers bound-in. Rebacked with original leather spine laid-down. Some rubbing to binding. Overall, a near fine copy.
    Published in October 1922, this edition was printed from the plates of the original edition (published by Shakespeare and Company in February of the same year). Eight pages of errata (listing over two hundred newly discovered typographical errors) were laid-in.
