    Description

Jack Kerouac. On the Road. New York: The Viking Press, 1957. First edition. Octavo (8 x 5.25 inches; 203 x 135 mm.). [2, blank], [iv], 310, [4, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine and front board lettered in white; top edge stained red; in original dust jacket. Backstrip with a faint hint of mottling and a trivial roll to just the upper portion; bottom of the spine very lightly pushed; a touch of wear to some of the white lettering; top corners very softly bumped. Top stain dulled just a shade near the spine. Spine panel tanned very slightly, but reds and blues are still vivid; spine ends and fold edges very slightly worn; short (approximately three-eighths inch) closed tear to the interior of the front panel near the spine fold, two smaller closed tears to the upper edge; front panel just barely rubbed, far less than often seen; rear panel with only a touch of soiling; flap folds very lightly worn; rear flap faintly tanned. A stunning, near fine, copy. The high spot of beat literature.
