    J. D. Salinger. The Catcher in the Rye. Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1951. First edition. Octavo. [2, blank], [vi], 277, [3, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, some minor edgewear, corners a little rubbed, lettering on spine a tad rubbed, a few minor scratches. Cream colored endpapers, all edges trimmed; ex-library with stamp removed from front free endpaper. Internally clean and bright with just a few intermittent spots. In original but later-issue color pictorial dust jacket; bottom edge trimmed affecting "author of / The Catcher in the Rye" on back panel, some toning, creases, a few losses, spine a bit sunned, remnants of label removed from lower spine panel affecting front and back panels, losses to verso from stamp or sticker removal. Very good book in a good dust jacket.
