    George Sterling. The Black Vulture. Autograph Sonnet. [N.p.], [n.d. circa 1920]. Ink on Bohemian Club stationery, signed by the author. Quarto. Single leaf in custom paper over boards. A bit of sunning on outer margins of boards, some extremity wear. Older horizontal folding crease on leaf, previous to binding, with minor soiling on verso. Else, near fine.

    George Sterling (1869-1926) was an American poet and playright known for A Testimony of the Suns, A Wine of Wizardry, and The Black Vulture. His works spanned themes from romanticism, gloom, fantasy, and the most taboo of topics. Sterling committed suide by taking cyanide in his room at the Bohemian Club on November 17, 1926.
