    More Information:

Gabriel García Márquez. El otoño del patriarca. [The Autumn of the Patriarch]. [Barcelona]: Plaza & Janes, [1975]. First edition, association copy, inscribed by the author on the title-page: "Para Fayad Jamís / de su amigo grande / Gabriel / 1975 / MEX;" initialed and dated by Jamís on the last page of the text. Octavo (7.375 x 4.875 inches; 187 x 124 mm.). 271, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's green paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt and white; in original dust jacket. Spine slightly skewed; boards very slightly splayed; crown softly pushed; board edges very lightly worn, particularly at the bottom corners; boards very lightly soiled. Slightly shaken; text block sagging slightly; hinges starting (front hinge nearly cracked); endpapers and page edges lightly foxed. Dust jacket edges lightly worn, mostly at the edges of the spine panel and folds; crown very faintly dulled; some faint discoloration to the bottom margin of both flaps. Very good. García Márquez's polemic anti-authoritarian work, whose central character is modeled after an amalgamation of dictators, prominently Francisco Franco of Spain (where the novel was written) and Gustavo Rojas Pinilla who ruled over García Márquez native Columbia. Fayad Jamís was a renowned Cuban painter and poet.
