Manuscript leaf from Norris's best-known novel, McTeague, laid-in to first volume; oversized, written on one side and containing approximately 450 words of what would eventually be printed on pages 21-23 of the first edition, with numerous holographic corrections throughout, in publisher's printed envelope. Ten octavo volumes. Portraiture frontispiece inserted in first volume. Publisher's Japanese vellum-covered boards, spines lettered in gilt, front boards with central motif stamped in gilt, top edges gilt, others untrimmed. Boards and spine ends just a bit soiled with slightly heavier soiling to the front board of Volume X, board edges lightly rubbed. Manuscript envelop split at edges with closed tear. A near fine set overall. From the collection of Donald Kaufmann.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
