[vi], 218 pages. Publisher's green, linen-like grain cloth, front board lettered in blind, spine lettered in gilt; corners bumped, head of spine just a tad pushed, minor edgewear. White endpapers, top and bottom edges trimmed, fore-edge roughly trimmed; a spot or two of foxing to endpapers, unobtrusive bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown. Internally generally clean; scattered, minor foxing, text block a touch toned, but evenly and attractively. Original first printing color pictorial dust jacket with lowercase 'j' in 'jay Gatsby' hand-corrected in blue ink, price intact ($2.00); professional restorations to dust jacket, including reinforcements to verso of spine panel and all folds, repairs to top edge of verso, particularly at front flap fold and top of front panel; on recto, color correction to folds and edges, repairs and color correction to front panel, touching "T" in "The," "t" in "Great," and "G" in "Gatsby," repairs and color correction to spine including restoration to "T" in "The" and restoration to "Scri" and touching "b" of "Scribners" at tail of spine panel, a bit scuffed and rubbed, more so to back panel, other minor wear and chips, particularly to folds. Still, original color on front wrapper bright and well-preserved. Housed in a blue cloth chemise and custom light blue morocco slipcase, spine lettered and ruled in gilt with five raised bands, upper and lower covers ruled and decorated in gilt; spine sunned, other minor wear. Near fine book, in a very good dust jacket, uncommon, and indeed rare in any state, at auction.
