First edition, association copy, inscribed by the author to actor and director Paul Bartel on the half-title: "by / Edward Albee / This copy signed for Paul Bartel." Octavo (8.25 x 5 inches; 210 x 125 mm.). [xii], 244, [1, blank], [1, about the author] pages. Publisher's black cloth, front board lettered in blind, spine lettered in gilt; top edge stained red; in original dust jacket. A few small areas of rubbing to boards; very minor rubbing to board edges; lower corners softly bumped. Dust jacket spine just a bit sunned; white background faintly tanned, particularly at the edges of the flaps; minor rubbing to edges; one small spot of soiling to front flap. Still, a near fine copy with an excellent association. Paul Bartel started his career working for Roger Corman before accumulating numerous credits as an actor and director, most notably for the 1982 film Eating Raoul. From the James C.
