Edgar Rice Burroughs. The Beasts of Tarzan. New York: Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers, [1916, though actually 1935 as per Zeuschner]. Reprint. Signed by Edgar Rice Burroughs, his daughter, Joan Burroughs, and her husband, James H. Pierce (who played Tarzan in Tarzan and the Golden Lion in 1927). Beneath their signatures, in an unknown hand, is, "Best of luck / to / Nancy Anne Smith." Octavo. [viii], [337], [7, ads] pages. With frontispiece by J. Allen St. John inserted at front. Publisher's full red cloth, front board and spine lettered in black. In the publisher's dust jacket, with text on verso as issued. Spine a bit toned and rubbed, mild rubbing to boards. Light offsetting and foxing to endleaves. Pierce's signature is a bit smudged on his last name. Occasional foxing in text. Jacket spine creased, sunned and worn, with some chipping and a few tears; edgewear and a few chips or tears to panels; some foxing to jacket verso. A near fine copy in a good jacket. Zeuschner, p. 33.
From the Albert E. Willis Collection of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
