Manuscript Edition, limited to 100 numbered and registered copies, of which this is number thirty-six. Thirty-two octavo volumes (9 x 6 inches; 230 x 182 mm.). Beautifully illustrated with hand-colored frontispieces or aquarelles in most volumes; also illustrated with photogravures, and etchings after the original illustrations by Hablot K. Browne ("Phiz"), George Cattermole, George Cruikshank, Dalziel, etc. Each illustration with captioned tissue guards. Contemporary red levant morocco, boards ruled and paneled in gilt with publishers gilt central initials and floral spray, spines ruled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt turn-ins, blue watered silk doublures and free endpapers. Top edges gilt. Some occasional rubbing and generally minor wear to volumes; a few volumes with light discoloration on spines. A magnificent, nearly fine set with wonderful illustrations.
