Caroline Gordon. Penhally. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1931. First edition, inscribed by Gordon as "Kidy" to her cousin Marion "Manny" Meriwether: "For my dear Manny / with much love / Kidy." Octavo. [8], 282, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's blue cloth, gold lettering on front board and spine. Spine cocked, slight discoloration on backstrip, extremities bumped and rubbed, dust soiling on top edge, over-opened, previous bookseller's pencil annotation on front free endpaper, small tear on p. 86/87. Jacket toned, soiled, chipped with some loss, small stains on front panel, and split with two 0.5 inch cellophane tape adhesives attaching spine and front panels. A very good copy in a good dust jacket. From the collection of Donald Kaufmann.
