8vo (8 3/4 x 5 5/8 inches; 224 x 144 mm). Original blue printed wrappers; red cloth folding case.

FIRST EDITION. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR on the title page: "K. Young with compliments / and greetings from C. S. L." Also with a piece of the mailing envelope pasted to the title page, addressed by Lewis: "From C. S. Lewis, Magdalen College, Oxford." and with a penciled notation in another hand "Posted Ja. 15. '44."

Condition: Wrappers lightly toned; a few minor chips and other edgewear. Slight toning to text; a few spots.
