    Bernard Malamud. A New Life [and:] Idiots First. New York: Farrar, Straus, [1961, 1963]. First editions. Each volume is warmly inscribed by Malamud (to different recipients). Together, two octavo volumes. Publisher's bindings, dust jackets. Dust jacket of A New Life thumbsoiled and somewhat worn, some rubbing to the jacket of Idiots First. Some rubbing, sunning to both volumes. Generally very good or better. Laid-into A New Life is a brief autograph note signed by Malamud to the inscription's recipient of that book (some offsetting from tape, else near fine). [Also with:] Typed Note Signed by Malamud (dated July 29, 1980) politely declining an invitation to lecture at the University of South Florida (some creasing, toning, else fine).
