[T. S. Eliot, Introduction]. Charlotte Eliot. Savonarola. A Dramatic Poem. London: R. Cobden-Sanderson, [1926]. First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by Charlotte Eliot to her daughter, Marian (T. S. Eliot's older sister), on the front free endpaper: "Marian C. Eliot / With dear love / from / Mother." Octavo. [xvi], 99, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's full black cloth, printed paper label on spine, in original dust jacket. Jacket spine and jacket panel edges toned and worn, with several tears and chips, some light foxing to jacket, some rubbing and minor soiling to cloth binding, front free endpaper creased (this may be a paper flaw instead of later damage), some pages roughly opened, one page creased at upper corner, some occasional foxing in text. Still, a near fine copy. T. S. Eliot's mother, Charlotte Champe Stearns Eliot, was a teacher, scholar and reformer. Her literary background proved an enormous influence on her son. Gallup B.4. From a T. S. Eliot Family Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
