First edition, second printing of this WPA guide (without the supplementary chapter on the World's Fair). Cheever was an editorial assistant on the book, and this is his first appearance in print. Signed by Cheever on the front free endpaper. Richard Wright was another contributor to this book. Octavo. 680 pages. Illustrated. Publisher's full gray cloth, spine stamped in black and gilt, folding map in pocket on rear pastedown, dust jacket. Jacket spine a bit toned. Jacket quite worn, chipped and torn, rear panel thumbsoiled and foxed, some rubbing to binding, a few spots on edge of text block. Generally very good. Rare with Cheever's signature.
