    [Henry Miller Gift Inscription]. Hermann Hesse. Siddhartha. [New York: New Directions, 1951]. First American edition, first issue with Patterson on verso of half-title. Signed and inscribed by Miller on front free endpaper. Laid in are two ALS with original mailing envelopes from 1957-1958. Twelvemo. 153 pages. Publisher's gray cloth with black spine titles. Slightly leaning spine with some mild rubbing to ends. Dust jacket, with art by Alvin Lustig, shows sunning to spine and chip at head. Minor rubbing to extremities. A very good copy.

    Inscription reads, "To / Mrs. Edna Liebmann / who, I hope, will / spread the good / news. / Henry Miller / 8/10/52".
