    Rosalind Russell's Copy of Auntie Mame, Signed and Inscribed to Her by Thirty-Five People Involved with the Original Broadway Production

    [Cast-Signed Book]. [Rosalind Russell, association]. Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. Auntie Mame [a play]. Based on the Novel by Patrick Dennis. New York: The Vanguard Press, [1957]. First edition. Presentation copy, inscribed by the authors, the majority of the cast, some of the crew, and producer Robert Carr to Rosalind Russell, who put her indelible mark on the role of Mame Dennis in the 1956 Broadway production as well as the 1958 Warner Brothers film. The first inscription is on the first blank in the hand of co-author Robert E. Lee: "To Roz-/"Mame the First/Queen of Broadway-/with love and/gratitude,/Jerome Lawrence/Robert E. Lee/Pat Tanner [he wrote the original novel under the pseudonym, Patrick Dennis]/Freddie Brisson [Russell's husband]". This book is additionally inscribed to Russell by thirty-one members of the cast and crew of the original Broadway production. Inscriptions on first few and last few blanks. Octavo. [4, blank], [vi], 182, [6, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth backstrip over printed paper boards, spine lettered in silver, dust jacket. Jacket spine sunned, some rubbing and a few small tears and tiny chips to jacket, minor browning to edge of binding. Still, a near fine copy with an incredible association.
