Mutiny on the Bounty, Signed by the Cast and Crew of the Classic Oscar-Winning 1935 Film, Starring Charles Laughton and Clark Gable

[Cast-Signed Book]. Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall. Mutiny on the Bounty. Boston: Little, Brown, and Company, 1934. Later reprint. This copy signed by over forty cast members of the 1935 M.G.M. film, including Charles Laughton, Clark Gable, Francot Tone (all three of whom were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1936 - still the only film in history to have three actors nominated for Best Actor). Also signed by thirty-one members of the crew, including the producer Irving Thalberg, and the director, Frank Lloyd (who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director in 1936). With two original pen-and-ink sketches by actor Dick Winslow ("Robert Tinkler" in the film), one of the Bounty and, beneath it, an elaborately written "Directed By" (under this, Lloyd has signed) on the half-title, and a sketch of himself in profile as well as an inscription on the title-page. This copy was owned by "Beth," who was a hairdresser on the film. Octavo. xii, [382] pages. Publisher's full blue cloth, front cover and spine decoratively stamped in silver, and spine lettered in silver, dust jacket. Jacket spine browned, jacket worn with some tears and chips, cloth spine sunned, cloth worn at extremities, tear to half title at the lower portion near the gutter, all autographs written on two leaves and mounted to front endleaves, probably at the time of filming (although most crew autographs are on the first few leaves of the book). Front free endpaper a bit wrinkled, due to the mounting of the signed leaf. Overall a good copy. Housed in custom-built quarter brown morocco clamshell case. One of the true classics of cinema, the 1935 version of Mutiny on the Bounty starred one of the most famous leading men in Hollywood history (Clark Gable), and propelled Charles Laughton to fame. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1936. From the John McLaughlin/Book Sail Collection.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
