    Laws of the Republic of Texas, In Two Volumes. Houston: "Printed at the Office of the Telegraph," 1838. First edition. Octavo. Two volumes bound in one. 276, [v] index pages; 122, v index pages. Later quarter morocco with marbled paper over boards. Titles lettered in gilt on the spine.

    Both the first and second editions of this work begin with a printing of the Texas Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. There follows a complete listing of the Laws of the Republic of Texas with acts and resolutions on a myriad of topics, including such diverse matters as: attorney fees, locating a permanent seat of government, An Act to Provide for the Punishment of Crimes and Misdemeanors Committed by Slaves and Persons of Color, incorporation of various towns, money for the purchase of a house for the president's use, and numerous resolutions providing for the relief of various private citizens.

    Condition: Contents with scattered moderate to occasionally heavy foxing. Some damp staining. Still a tight, sound copy in generally very good condition.
