    The First Adventure to Oz

    L. Frank Baum. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Chicago and New York: George M. Hill Company, 1900. First edition, second state, binding variant "C" with publisher's imprint at foot of spine in red in serifed type. Quarto. 261, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's light green cloth pictorially stamped and lettered in red and a darker green. Twenty-four inserted color plates, in addition to numerous intertextual illustrations by W. W. Denslow. Pictorial pastedown endpapers (issued without free endpapers). Plates previously with check marks written in pencil, all but one since erased. Binding rubbed with some soiling and occasional small splash, corners bumped, a bit of fraying on spine ends, hinges cracked but sound, text block over-opened on occasion, some toning, light soiling to text. Despite these flaws, maintains a very good overall appearance for this well-loved children's text.

The first and best-known of Baum's Oz series and immortalized by the 1939 MGM movie starring a young Judy Garland. Greene and Hanff, pp. 25-27.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
