Laid-in is a typed letter signed from the author (signed "yours/Tim") to the recipient of the inscription, with the same date as the inscription. Octavo. 287 pages. Publisher's full salmon cloth, spine lettered in black. In the original publisher's dust jacket. Cloth spine a bit toned. Binding rubbed and thumbsoiled, boards are bumped at corners and fore-edges. Endleaves toned and somewhat offset. Typed letter is also offset, with paperclip markings at the top. Bookseller's ticket on rear pastedown. Jacket spine a bit sunned. Jacket edgeworn, foxed and thumbsoiled. Some light chipping and a few short tears. Slightly skewed. Still, good. [Together with:] Another copy. New York: The Macmillan Company, 1937. First American edition. Octavo. 287 pages. Publisher's full gray cloth, front board and spine stamped in black. In the original publisher's dust jacket. Cloth spine toned, some rubbing, light thumbsoiling to binding. Endleaves a bit toned. Small inkstamp on front free endpaper, and evidence of label removal and tape reinforcement on rear pastedown. Edge of text block soiled. Jacket spine toned. A few tape repairs to jacket verso. Jacket edgeworn, chipped, thumbsoiled, and with a few creased tears. Fair.
