Description

Rare Military Journal of 1920s French Africa

L'Armee d'Afrique: Organe de Liaison Entre Officiers de Reserve de l'Algerie-Tunisie et Maroc et Leurs Camarades de l'Active. Alger: P. Guiauchain, 1924-1928.

First edition. Five quarto volumes. Pagination not continuous. Illustrated with many black and white photographs, charts, and maps, some of which fold out.

Uniformly bound in quarter leather with marbled boards. Gilt titles to spines. Mild rubbing with abraded corners. Pages modestly toned. A very good set.

A rare French journal issued ten times a year beginning in 1924. This is the complete run of the journal for the first five years through 1928, Issues 1 through 50. It is a military journal which provides detailed information on the French Army. Additionally, as Africa had been explored in the recent past relative to the 1920s, there is also a great deal of descriptive material on the land, people, and architecture. An important African and French archive of the 1920s.
