    Description

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. The Breakfast of Champions. [New York]: Delacorte Press/Seymour Lawrence, 1973.

First edition, being an "Uncorrected Proof." Tall Quarto. 234 pages with numerous line drawings and sketches by the author.

Green paper wrappers show age toning at upper third of book and along spine. Edges, corners, and spine ends show minimal wear. Textblock is in great condition. Overall fine condition.

This uncorrected proof copy was Vonnegut's fiftieth birthday present to himself and his characters: in the book Vonnegut grants many of his characters their freedom (most notably Kilgore Trout who, unable to make it on the outside, returns in later books). The title phrase appears in a key scene late in the novel when a waitress says "Breakfast of Champions!" each time she serves a customer a martini. Scarce. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.
