Kenneth Millar. The Dark Tunnel. New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1944. First edition of the author's rare first book (he later became famous writing under the pseudonym, Ross Macdonald). Signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Octavo. [viii], 1-241, [3, blank] pages. Publisher's full red cloth, front board and spine stamped in black. In the rare original publisher's dust jacket. Cloth spine toned and rubbed, tailcap somewhat bumped. Boards slightly rubbed and soiled. Small spot of soiling at lower corner of front free endpaper, not affecting author's signature. Jacket spine toned, creased, and chipped at edges, with a long tear (approximately six inches) at the rear joint. Jacket panels edgeworn, thumbsoiled and rubbed, with some moderate chipping and a few short tears. The printed price on the front jacket flap has sticker residue from a previous price sticker, and the rear jacket flap is creased at the lower corner. Still, a very good copy of this rare book, one of only four novels published under Millar's real name. Chemised in slipcase.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
