    Description

Jules Verne. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas. London: Sampson, Low, Marston, Low, & Searle, 1873. First English-language edition, preceding the first U. S. edition and perhaps even harder to find than the famous jellyfish vignette binding. Octavo. viii, [2, blank], [1-3], 4-303, [1, blank], 8 pages publisher's ads pages. With 112 illustrations. Publisher's cloth, blue variant, beveled boards decorated in blind and with titles and embellishments stamped in gilt. All edges gilt. Skillfully re-backed with the original spine laid-down. Modest shelf wear to the edges of the board with light soiling. Contents clean; small pencil collation tick marks on the list of illustrations. Very good, housed in a custom clamshell case.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
