Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr.: An Insightful Artifact from the Kennedy Brother Who Was to Have Been President. Joe was the oldest son, and it was long his father's plan that he would carry the family's political standard. Sadly, Joe, Jr. was killed in action in World War II, so the designation fell on the shoulders of his younger brother Jack. This miniature New Testament was presented to an unidentified acquaintance, "Ed," who apparently was going through a rough patch in life. Although we often think of the Kennedy boys in terms of their sometimes-wild escapades, they had received a strict Irish Catholic upbringing, and it is that side of Joe which is revealed here. He wrote: "Remember, Ed, Jesus is always ready to walk with you-be that road smooth or rough-if you'll only ask him. Jos P. Kennedy Jr. October 1941."
Formerly in the Robert White Collection, the diminutive volume was purchased in the March 19, 1998 Kennedy auction at Guernsey's, lot 450, where it sold for $6325.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
