Octavo (8 x 5.75 inches; 203 x 145 mm.). 220, [221], [222, blank], [223, epilogue], [224, blank], 225-226 (contents), [1, printer's note], [1, blank] pages. Publisher's perfect binding in original printed oversized wrappers. Spine gently leaning; joints worn, bottom half of the rear joint split; short closed tears across the spine; spine creased; spine ends somewhat worn; fore edge very lightly worn; light even soiling to rear wrapper, some marginal discoloration to front wrapper. Text block browned; hinges starting. Still, very good. Caillois was responsible for creating the collection La Croix du Sud for the Parisian publisher Gallimard. It was the introduction of Borges, and several other Latin American heavyweights, to French readers. From the Marilyn R. Duff Collection.
