Viviparous Quadrupeds was a 150 folio-plate undertaking by John James Audubon and his son, John Woodhouse Audubon. The later plates (such as this one) were drawn by Audubon's son, as his health was declining.
The animal prints in Viviparous Quadrupeds are considered the finest published in America.
Sheet hinged with archival tape along top edge; sheet slightly undulating under mat; light handling creases; surface dirt; spot of residue at center left bottom edge of image; light paper discoloration; toning along edges; mat burn along extreme sheet edges; minor notches of paper loss at lower left sheet edge and upper and lower right corners; irregular top sheet edge with pinholes and small notches of paper loss.
