John Updike. The Chaste Planet. Metacom Press, 1980. First edition, one of twenty-six lettered copies signed by Updike, and additionally inscribed. From the collection of Alexander J. Jemal, Jr.

    More Information:

Inscribed by Updike on the front free-endpaper: "for Keith Baker/K for Keith [this is copy "K"]/Best wishes,/John Updike". Octavo. [18], [2, blank] pages. Signed limitation page reckoned within pagination. Publisher's burgundy morocco backstrip over paper boards, printed paper label affixed to front board, marbled endleaves. Some rubbing to spine, else fine. Laid-in is a letter from the publisher stating that they kept eleven copies of this book for themselves to sell, while two went to the Library of Congress, and twelve went to the author (we assume this was one of the copies that went to Updike). The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
