Henry/of Wyomissing/from John Updike/of Shillington/by way of thanks for/her most kind and generous/and provocative letter and/with best wishes to the/Berks County cultural/mission abroad./(I seem to have mispelled [sic]/"Shearers" on page 270, [spelled "Schearers" on that page with Updike's ink notation]/but that's typical of how/we do things back home)". Octavo. [x], [281], [5, blank] pages. Publisher's coral cloth backstrip over greenish-gray paper boards, front cover stamped in silver, spine stamped in gilt and silver, dust jacket.
