    One work in two quarto volumes. Two engraved folding frontispieces, one folding map, one smaller map, sixty-four engraved illustrated plates, ten full page engravings, and forty-eight in text engravings. "This is the extended narrative of the travels of Stephens and Catherwood, describing all forty-four ruined cities." - [Hill, 1638].

    xii, [9]-459: xvi, [9]-478, [1, catalog] pages. Volume two missing plate facing page 408 with two additional plates not on "Engravings" list facing pages 290 and 416. Publisher's brown cloth covered boards with ornamental frames and circular dragon device gilt on front boards and blind stamped on rear boards, gilt titles and dragon devices on spines. Bindings rubbed and lightly soiled, front joint of volume two cracking at head; previous owner's holograph ink name on the front pastedown and title page of both volumes, small holograph pencil bookseller's note on the front pastedown of volume one, rear free endpaper of volume bent, off set from tissue guard on first title page, foxing and browning on pages and plates, soiling, occasional small edge tears; else in very good condition.
