First edition of this enormous facsimile reprint of the Double Elephant Folio first edition of Audubon's Birds of America. Limited to 250 sets, of which this is number 125. Double Elephant Folio. Approximately 39.75 x 26.25 inches. Complete with 435 lithographic plates. Loose plates housed in thirty-six gray paper portfolios as issued. The entirety housed in the original publisher's wooden cabinet with six flat file drawers and frame. In the original six shipping boxes. Shipping boxes worn. Portfolios, and plates are in superb condition. Cabinet only partially assembled, sold as is. An impressive production, reproducing the copy of the Double Elephant Folio in the collection of the Teyler Foundation in the Netherlands.
