John Gill. The Cause of God and Truth in Four Parts. Containing an examination of the principal passages of Scripture made use of by the Arminians [sic] in favour of their Scheme... Parts I-IV and Vindication of Part IV. London: G. Keith, 1772. Third edition. Quarto. 679, [1, publisher's ad] pages. Full-calf with gilt-stamped red leather label and five raised bands on spine. Corners bumped and rubbed, heavy edgewear, head and foot of spine chipped with losses, joints starting and with some crude repairs, some worming to spine rubbed and worn, red rot. Endpapers foxed and toned, armorial bookplate of John Romeyn Brodhead (American historical scholar) and Rutgers College Library to front pastedown with withdrawn ink stamp, archival tape reinforcement to hinges, ink ownership to front free endpaper verso. Internally generally clean; somewhat foxed, title page foxed with some offsetting, text blocked toned and slightly soiled along margins and edges.
