    Full period calf. Raised bands to spine. Gilt-stamped floral designs to compartments. Gilt-lettered leather title label to spine. Marbled edges. Blind-stamped designs to boards. Moderate foxing throughout. Missing free endpapers. Two relevant book dealer catalogue citations tipped to front pastedown. Some restoration to backstrip and joints. Very good.

    John Fryer (1650-1733) was a surgeon in the employ of the British East India Company. After his stint abroad be wrote of his experiences, with much material concerning the customs, religions, governments, natural history, and, not surprisingly, the state of health care in India and its environs.
