John F. Kennedy: Harvard Class Album 1940. Hardbound, 11" x 14", 258 pp, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1940. A most handsome volume depicting Harvard's Class of 1940, including the future president of the United States, John F. Kennedy. JFK enrolled at Harvard in 1936 at the age of nineteen. As an upperclassman, he became a serious student and developed an interest in political philosophy. In his junior year he made the Dean's List. In 1940, he completed his thesis, "Appeasement in Munich," about British participation in the Munich Agreement. His thesis became a bestseller under the title Why England Slept. He graduated Harvard in 1940 with a Bachelor of Science cum laude in international affairs. JFK is pictured four times in the Class Album-as a member of the staff of the Crimson newspaper, as a member of the Yacht Club, as a class officer, and his class photograph with description of his activities while at Harvard, including the Crimson, football, swimming, and golf. His field of interest is noted as government and intended vocation as law. Amongst JFK's classmates are pictured such notables as Alan Jay Lerner and Pete Seeger. Tightly bound; interior pages clean. Overall, in very fine condition.
