Publisher's tan cloth with titles stamped in silver on the front board and spine. Floral endpapers.

    A good account of the Sioux War of 1876 by this newspaperman who accompanied Gen. Crook. An important source on this campaign. The owner of this copy, James B. Gillett (1856-1937), was a legendary Texas Ranger known for his many Indian fights and gun fights with well-known outlaws such as Sam Bass and Dick Dublin.

    Condition: Boards well-worn along the edges, corners and spine, especially at the spine ends. Hinges broken but the textblock remains solid, still about very good condition.
