Signed by him and dated "May 23/1979" on the front free endpaper. Octavo. [vi], 256, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's full red cloth, front cover and spine stamped in blue, dust jacket. Jacket spine chipped and toned, some edgewear and light chipping to jacket panels, a few small tape repairs to verso, cloth spine a bit browned and rubbed, some soiling to fore-edge of text. Overall, a very good copy.

    John Cheever (1912-1982) is commonly regarded as one of the finest short story writers of the twentieth century, and has won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, a National Book Award, and a National Book Critics Circle Award.
